What sparked HLBs opening of the Denver office? What’s the history of HLB? How do we do it all and still have success stories to share? These are just a few of the questions Associate Principal, Michael Lindsey, addressed at the IES Rocky Mountain’s October Section Meeting.
Michael’s “official” lighting career started with interning between his junior and senior year in college with the HLB LA office in the summer of 2006. He also worked part-time during his senior year for a local Denver-based lighting manufacturer. He came on full-time to HLB in the LA office in 2007. A recent newlywed, homeowner, and avid outdoor-lover, Michael has over 10 years of career growth and lighting design experience, where he found a second “family” at HLB.
Excited to get an offer from the IES to guest speak at their October Section Meeting, Michael hit the ground running on October 9, 2017 to inspire, educate and enlighten the crowd with his story.
Many wanted to know what it was like launching the HLB Denver office. His response? “Comfortably uncomfortable!” The support and foundation was there from his general management experience and through the support of HLB leadership, but it was an entirely new venture with a unique set of challenges. He felt prepared but also nervous and anxious to prove how strong the Denver market can be for HLB and how we can help fill a void in the Rocky Mountain region.
Michael’s biggest talking point was raising the level of design in Denver and expanding HLB into the region. He showcased designs from different market sectors, design lessons learned, and his genuine passion for what he does on a daily basis. Way to go, Michael, a true HLB #ThoughtLeader!
