Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design challenge was to presented a lighting control solution that would give each employee personal control.  The team designed a flexible control solution that would allow individual control to each employee.  In order to accomplish the stated goals, HLB recommended a digital control system, DALI, with addressable dimming ballasts on the news floor due to the ease of reconfiguring the zones of light.  In the general office areas, the indirect lighting fixtures supplied ambient lighting, while task lights are used at the employee’s discretion.  Although this system was truly considered more for the human factor, it served to also reduce energy consumption from the first day by about 25% because the client could shed loads during the 24 hour cycle, as needed.
