Museum of Tolerance Remodel

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Architect: Yazdani Studio, Cannon Design

The Museum of Tolerance renovation integrated lighting, signage and architecture to convey verbal and visual messages and draw visitors through the exhibits. Color changing LED’s graze the walls of the Peltz Theatre while general lighting is provided by dimmable down lights. The team worked collaboratively to create a three dimensional lighting effect. The resulting juxtaposition of the textured acoustical back wall and the coil drape front metal scrim create a dynamic moiré effect. This is further enhanced through theatrical manipulation of the intensity, color and sound to shift the quality of ambient light in the room to softly frontlight the scrim.

Awards:
Lumen West Award of Merit
