PORTFOLIO - URBAN MIXED USE

Mission Creek Park North

Location: San Francisco, CA
Architect: Marta Fry Landscape Architects

Mission Creek Park is a unique public park located in the Mission Bay District of San Francisco. HLB was responsible for creating the lighting standards used in the entire Mission Bay District and applying them to this park as well. This included the specification of semi-custom metal halide light poles used throughout the sidewalk streetscape. For the esplanade, the design team developed a custom compact fluorescent linear steplight integrated within the esplanade rail system, for a subtle and low level expression of light. Fully shielded metal halide uplights strap mounted to freeway support columns enliven the massive structures at night and help render the sculptural quality of these otherwise utilitarian concrete structures. Blue phosphor fluorescent lamps and colored polycarbonate panels provide a playful look for the kayak storage facility and unifies the park’s nautical theme.
