MARRIOTT HOTELS – BOSTON LONG WHARF

Light creates bright open volumes with sophisticated finishes for 21st century tastes.

A unique opportunity to redesign a firm’s 1981 design, HLB teamed with BBG-BBGM and Elkus Manfredi Architects for the renovation of the hotel’s public areas. An edge-lit LED feature wall welcomes guests. Eyes move upwards to the chandelier as LEDs accent frosted glass railings. New sleek coves visually open the atrium with light. 240 pendants are suspended from cables and are tension-mounted at 6th floor balconies.

The reception features layers of grazing light, supported with coves and downlights. LED coves and decorative downlights define library seating while art is grazed and accented. LED strips and pucklights highlight niches. To help animate the restaurant, HLB’s design team used custom chandeliers and a dynamic backlit LED bar.
