McCarran International Airport – Terminal 3

Illumination touches down on the city of glitzy lights, as the newest addition to the airport hits the Las Vegas strip.

Visitors are greeted by one of two replicas of the famous “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign and a 50-foot painting of Vegas showgirls in the addition of terminal 3. The newest international and domestic passenger hub includes the gates, ticketing, security checkpoints, baggage claim, curbside arrivals and departures, and apron. HLB worked to find a maintainable solution to wash the large skylights in color changing illumination. Challenges included the large size of the skylights or “fissures”, and harnessing the quickly changing LED technologies for a project with an extensive construction schedule, while at the same time being sensitive to budget requirements.
