Sunset Media Center

Light and art define the repositioning of Sunset Media Center — igniting a modern twist to historic Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.

As part of the renovation which included the lobby, public areas, garage and site, the make-up of the building underwent a modernization which did not disrupt traffic to retail tenants on the ground floor — a major challenge for the 22-story high rise building project. Custom architectural ceiling fin structures and exterior louvers fabricated by Arktura were spotlighted with HLB’s exterior facade lighting design which utilized lines of light from the crown of the building.

HLB used adjustable hidden fixtures to highlight the furniture and artwork. A California native, David Flores’ artwork welcomes tenants and guests throughout the building’s common areas. In addition, in-grade light fixtures were installed to uplit the ceiling in order to illuminate the volume of the lobby space. Using an architectural niche in the facade, a continuous grazer was used to light the building signage — spotlighting the Sunset Boulevard address as viewed from the street. The renovation was a much needed facelift for a building in the middle of the glitz and glamour of ever-changing Hollywood.
