Project Description

Igniting a high-performance, sustainable research building — one lumen at a time.

The Veterinary Medicine 3B building at UC Davis is a state-of-the-art bio-medical research facility dedicated to the study of animal-health issues such as environmental pollution, food safety, public health, and infectious diseases. The high-quality indoor environment gives researchers ample daylighting, exterior views and natural ventilation.

The innovative design features open collaborative lab and office spaces to encourage sharing among faculty, staff and students. HLB’s scope included open labs, BSL-3 laboratories, vivarium, offices, support spaces, library, seminar room, lobby, conference rooms and the building mounted exterior lighting.
