Equinox Bloomfield Hills

Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
United States

HLB was excited to deliver new brand standards for the lighting of Michigan’s first Equinox location and participate in this reimagining of a 1950s car dealership. Leveraging the facility’s high ceilings, HLB utilized a direct/indirect lighting approach to make spaces feel bright and voluminous. On the Strength Floor, direct and indirect lighting are integrated into large steel girders throughout the space, complemented by up-lit soffits that line the perimeter.

Individual fitness studios integrate cove lighting to provide soft ambient effects while avoiding the glare of direct fixtures. The pool is illuminated by a skylight and supplementary electric light designed for easy maintenance, as fixtures were positioned to avoid mounting over the water surface. Fun, semi-recessed fixtures provide ambient light in the Kids’ Club and create a splash of light on the ceiling.
