LinkedIn Middlefield Campus

Mountain View, California
United States

Designed to tie together LinkedIn’s campus, this expansion strengthens access to natural light and outdoor connections. HLB’s scope included core and shell spaces, outdoor amenities, and pedestrian paths. The main building’s entry lobby is softly washed with light to enhance wayfinding, while asymmetric uplights highlight the geometric architectural forms. Illuminated staircases serve as connective tissue throughout the campus, bringing together the different floors with luminous lines of light.

The design team was challenged to mitigate the project’s impact on the natural environment and the adjacent residential neighborhood. As a thoughtful solution, HLB integrated exterior site lighting with cutoff optics to reduce sky glow and backlight control optics in select areas to eliminate light trespass from the campus.
