The design team and City’s shared goal included restoring the aging facility as a hub of activity and important economic driver for the City. HLB focused on creating a light-filled civic gateway that invites visitors and residences to enjoy a range of events.
The exterior building facade lighting illuminates the adjacent Portola Plaza while highlighting the building. Inside the Conference Center, the integration of natural light creates a comfortable environment while accenting the architecture. The project includes an exhibit hall, ballroom, meeting rooms, pre-function space, art gallery, administrative offices, and a large outdoor function terrace.
