The unique design was based on the polygon, the fundamental building block of computer graphics that delivers functionality and efficiency to this open-plan environment. Integrating lighting into the ceilings was a challenge as they ranged from 12 to 36 feet high, and are angled and faceted. An indirect uplight was suspended from the structural beams to reinforce the building’s geometry and provide a consistent layer of interior ambient lighting throughout the building. The uplighting also helped to balance the daylight provided by the 245 skylights, making the space visually comfortable and glare free.

HLB's scope included two levels of underground parking, open offices, conference rooms, labs, servery and private dining, an auditorium, and library.
