Portland International Airport Concourse E Expansion

Portland, Oregon
United States

Daylighting and electric lighting design were a primary focus for the terminal, seamlessly blending the two mediums in support of an energy efficient, welcoming and comfortable space. Extensive calculation studies identified the amount of natural light delivered in the terminal. These studies also aided in understanding glare mitigation through glazing and fenestration as well as shade studies to ensure luminance values are well balanced at gate podiums. Electric lighting components are integrated seamlessly into this Pacific Northwest-inspired facility to offer airport patrons a respite from standard air travel.
