Seaport Science Center

Boston, Massachusetts
United States

This building revitalization project in Boston’s Seaport district transforms an aging structure into a competitive lab/office space for the life science sector amidst rapid urban evolution.

The vision materialized through thoughtful lighting design seamlessly integrated with the architecture. A stunning chandelier, spanning three floors at the entrance and crafted from custom etched glass and integrated LEDs, serves as a beacon of modernity. Concealed grazers in the lobby follow the waving wood wall’s pattern, creating mesmerizing light and shadow effects. Dynamic elements like a curving metal mesh with recessed downlights and decorative globes add visual depth and sparkle.

The control system was pivotal, with an oculus installation showcasing dynamic scenes and RGBW color-changing capabilities from holiday themes to Boston event reflections. Dimmable features respect the neighborhood ambiance, while localized controller pads ensure staff accessibility.
