Slack

The Slack workplace challenges traditional office design, introducing contrasting material palettes while delivering light uniformity. With extensive computer work throughout and floor-to-ceiling windows around the perimeter, carefully integrated lighting softens the environment and supports occupant comfort.

Because of the variety of unique workspaces, varied ceiling conditions are utilized throughout, but light levels remain consistent. Black fixture accents alongside washed wood finishes blend the spatial qualities of both the open and intimate space types. Design revisions were necessary mid-project, as the City of Denver adopted the more stringent IECC 2018 energy code. Balancing the high light levels the client requested with new lower wattage allowances for the spaces, HLB capitalized on daylight availability and a dimming control system to reduce electric light without sacrificing functionality in the space.
