Located in downtown Fort Lauderdale, the developer of this apartment community envisioned an extravagant overhaul of the pedestrian breezeway, connecting the parking deck and two residential towers. To transform what could have been an overlooked space, the elevated lighting design creates a prominent, engaging attraction with connection to the retail plaza.
The lighting design team specified high ceiling pendants, described as “floating candles”, which operate on an automatic dimming system. The lighting was designed and specified with a focus on long-term reliability and durability since the occasional hurricane is a reality for the Fort Lauderdale community. The LED light source is contained in an acrylic sealed cylinder to provide a uniform column of illumination. The result was superb, providing a consistent and dynamic glow to the building’s entranceway.
