The Center for Fiction

Brooklyn, New York
United States

The Center for Fiction (CFF) had outgrown its long-time space in Manhattan and required the Brooklyn location to carry excitement and intrigue in order to draw members both old and new.

CFF's Brooklyn home includes retail and performance spaces, expanded collection areas, offices, and meeting space with touches of art throughout. Paying homage to CFF's Manhattan location – as well as working within a tight budget – several decorative fixtures were reused in the Brooklyn location. A custom luminaire inspired by an existing fixture in the Manhattan location was created for the retail space to give it an open and bright atmosphere.

Through careful section of products, HLB's design is 16% under NYCECC 2014 energy code, contributing to CFF's LEED Gold Certification.
