UC Berkeley Moffitt Library, Cafe and Terrace

Berkeley, California
United States

The highlight of the Moffitt Library terrace is a pop-up café. The lighting design concept for the small rectangular café was to create a glow from within. Behind perforated metal screens is a linear LED wall grazer detail that wraps around the café creating a unique lighting effect.

Essential wayfinding and security lighting is provided using minimalistic-style poles and bollards at the terrace. The original light poles were replaced with low-level bollards that seamlessly integrate in the existing courtyard railing while poles were added at the perimeter to guide students through the terrace without blocking views from the adjacent library.
