Cornell University, North Martha Van Rensselaer Hall

Ithaca, New York
United States

North Martha Van Rensselaer Hall provides the College with auditoriums, classrooms, seminar rooms, distance learning rooms, student computing facilities, design studios, faculty offices, laboratories, and other specialized research facilities, as well as housing the College administration.

The lighting design provides high quality and high performance illumination to meet rigorous laboratory requirements, while enhancing corridors and student gathering spaces to promote a sense of community between the disparate disciplines within the College of Human Ecology. Lighted display areas are integrated throughout the project, to inform all the students of the innovative science and design work underway. The two gallery spaces dedicated to showcasing the work of the college have flexible lighting and controls, and a variety of accent lighting capabilities. Seminar rooms include lighting for video-conferencing and CAD classrooms are lighted with a combination of indirect pendants and wall washing.
