Light weaves together a cohesive and holistic healing environment.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is committed to caring for sick and injured children and adolescents. As part of their campus expansion, the new main hospital will be surrounded by six additional acres of green space comprised of parks and healing gardens for patients, their families, the hospital staff, and the community.

HLB’s design goals included connecting the indoor and outdoor experiences, ensuring that the environment feels safe and secure, and enhancing the various experiences of the park and gardens. The team also provided a series of interactive lighting shows to further improve a patient’s experience while in the green space itself, also considering those that are bedridden. The illumination for the new green space expresses seasonal change and provides a sense of night identity.
