Museum of Tolerance Social Lab

Los Angeles, California
United States

Established to create a sense of unity in a diverse society, the Museum of Tolerance promotes education around diversity and inclusion that is approachable for all generations. The modern platform activates 15 separate spaces, including an immersive interactive gallery, that are critical to the museum’s mission to inspire people and take action against racism, bigotry, and anti-Semitism through storytelling. The complicated topic and specialized space called for tactical design to support the museum’s goals.

This was the second time HLB worked with the Museum on a renovation project, collaborating closely with the Architect, AV consultant, and Content Provider to overcome technical and timeline challenges. Two layers of color-changing lighting were programmed to enhance the exhibits with an integrated controls system and RGBW color changing luminaires. Luminaires are carefully placed and coordinated with AV equipment to allow for seamless integration and create a lasting impact on museum visitors.
