The Landmark Los Angeles

Los Angeles, California
United States

The Landmark Los Angeles, a luxury 34-story apartment tower, is the first residential development to be built west of the 405 Freeway in over four decades. It’s amenity-rich offerings include a serene one-acre park, lounges, and expansive private balconies that create the distinct geometric curvatures along the building’s facade.

An important consideration for this illuminated landscape was to avoid a major interior glare for residents. Other lighting goals included curating a modest glow along the skyline to coincide with the tower’s minimalist interior aesthetic. The geometric balconies and elevator lobby’s vertical glazing fostered a need for strategic lighting placement to complement the exterior view of the building. Lighting requirements for the amenity deck and pool included illumination delivering both ambiance and safety lighting. HLB’s design resolution featured integrating luminaires at pergolas and decorative pendants at trees, as well as mounting slender light poles with small shielded adjustable lighting to provide an overall soft illumination for circulation throughout the deck.
